Jake Simelhay
Hi, I'm Jake. The founder, owner and hard worker at Simelhay Landscaping. I grew up in Whangarei and have always loved the outdoors. I started landscaping straight out of school and then travelled to America and Australia adding more skills under my toolbelt, and at the same time affirming that New Zealand was where I wanted to live. After a number of different roles all within the landscaping and construction industry I decided to start my own company. Having my own company means that I can take on and carry out projects in a way that aligns with my values. Relationships and strong communication are very important to me, along with transparency and a high standard of quality workmanship.
My Story
Throughout my career, I have been deeply immersed in the landscaping and construction sectors, especially in my formative years. However over the past few years, I transitioned into management roles within larger companies. While these experiences provided valuable insights, I discovered that I missed working outdoors. Recently I reignited my passion by rejoining the landscaping field with another company. This journey reaffirmed my commitment to my core values and passions, ultimately leading me to establish my own company so that I could do things the way I like to do them. I believe that honest and open communication with clients and subcontractors is the key to success. The opportunity to work closely with people was a driving force behind starting my own business, enabling me to uphold values of honesty, integrity and quality workmanship in every project I undertake.
